As the Senior Financial Advisor, I have the privilege of leading my team at Guardian Wealth Advisors. I have been counseling clients in wealth management, paying particular attention to their risk tolerance and cash flow needs since 1987. My mission is to use my investment and financial planning experience to help others and build strong, long-term relationships with my clients. Almost everything in our lives is affected by our financial decisions and sometimes you just need someone to talk to - I am happy to be that someone.

I graduated with my degree in communications from the University of Minnesota and began my career in 1987 at Dain Bosworth in Edina, Minnesota. Prior to my current position, I was the Executive Vice President of Twin Cities-based Kopp Investment Advisors. There, I played an integral role in the growth and management of $8.9 billion through private client relationships and a family of mutual funds. While I have experienced the Crash of ’87, the events of 9-11, the Great Recession and a pandemic, I consider my most valuable experience to be hearing and feeling the emotions we have during times of turmoil. 

I am a lifelong Twin Cities resident, along with my wife of over 40 years, Mari, and our son, Ryan. When I’m not working or spending time with family, I volunteer for many non-profit organizations in the Upper Midwest. I am proud to have been asked to mentor aspiring female executives through Mentium, a career non-profit. I also love both sports and traveling. I’ve coached youth hockey in very cold rinks in Canada, climbed down steps into the crypts under the Great Pyramids in Egypt and stood inside the tomb of Jesus in Jerusalem… and I’m not done exploring yet.

By studying the markets I’m able to determine how to set up our clients’ investments in ways most likely to help them achieve their financial goals and dreams.

A long-time Minneapolis resident, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Marquette University in Milwaukee and my MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. I went on to gain experience in accounting and finance for Procter & Gamble, and I now know a fair amount about making toothpaste. I’ve been in the investment world for over 30 years, working at local investment firms and teaching finance at St. Catherine University and Metropolitan State University. Before my role at Guardian Wealth Advisors, I was a Portfolio Manager and Director of Marketing and Client Services at Kopp Investment Advisors.

Outside of work, you can find me running, biking, reading books, listening to music and volunteering.

A comprehensive approach to wealth management, financial planning, and portfolio construction is so important for individuals and families, specifically pre-retirees and retirees. With a keen focus on consistent and valuable communication, I work diligently to assist clients with exceptional customer service and the intention of being their trusted wealth advisor for life.

Prior to beginning my career in financial services in 2019, I worked in corporate finance and analytics with some of the biggest brands in the world. In fact, my former boss was the one and only Mickey Mouse! I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

Originally from Beaver Dam, WI, I am active in the community as a volunteer for organizations such as MN ADOPT, where I currently serve as its Treasurer, and Rosemount Rotary, having served as its President from 2021-2022. I enjoy golfing, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with my family. My wife, Melissa, and I have one child, Dakota, who is the light of our lives.

As the Vice President of Operations, I have over 30 years of experience in the investment management business. I am proud to work on a relationship-focused team where getting to know our clients is a top priority. I believe that building long-term relationships end up benefiting our clients not only on a day-to-day basis but also help them through both their best and worst moments. In the office, I wear many hats. I’m responsible for Guardian’s marketing and brand development, as well as ensuring that all reports and client invoices are accurate. As the resident technology geek, I’m also our in-house resource for technology systems and applications.

I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota with a double major in international relations and Scandinavian studies with a minor in Danish. In 1993 I went on to join Kopp Investment Advisors working in the marketing department. I gained experience on the front lines as a resource for clients and brokers wanting to learn more about our in-house mutual funds, learned graphic design through our marketing campaigns and became the in-house designer.

When I’m not at work, you can find me outside with a camera or garden spade in hand. I’ve been taking pictures since I got my first film camera at age 11, and have been pulling carrots out of the ground even longer. I love to travel, especially back to Denmark where 90% of my extended family still lives. Within the states, I often travel to California where all of my in-laws live. I’m also proud to be a volunteer and board member of the Danish American Center.

As the Associate Vice President of Operations, I am your go-to for account openings, funds transfers, account servicing needs and any general assistance that you may need. I have a strong belief that it is important for everyone to feel secure in their financial future. Even if I can help just a little with getting the ball rolling for our clients, it makes my job very rewarding. 

I graduated from Winona State University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. I got a job related to my degree as a counselor at a group home for 2 years, then started working part-time in an office as well. I realized that I truly enjoyed the ‘office’ part of my job, specifically the structure of the day and the paperwork. In 1992 I started my first financial-related job at Kopp Investment Advisors where I worked for over 15 years. Now, I have been with Guardian Wealth Advisors for 14 years. The office job turned out to be a good choice!

In my free time, I like to read, make photo books and try new recipes. I enjoy going on daily walks outside with family, friends or alone while I listen to my audiobooks. My husband and I have had the joy of raising 2 children together. Our kids were very involved in volleyball and hockey when they were younger, and then choir and musical theater in later years. Now, they are all grown up and we love taking yearly cruises and spending time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota.

I graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. After graduation, I moved to Eagan, Minnesota and began my career at RBC Wealth Management. I started on the managed accounts team in 2006. My experience there led me to the portfolio implementation team, where we managed more than 34,000 accounts and $7.5 billion in assets. I played an integral role in the team's growth, which led me to receive the “Quarterly Award of Excellence” and the highly coveted “Annual Award of Excellence.” I also gained operational experience at Ameriprise and Riverbridge Partners.

I grew up in a small town called Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. I enjoy traveling back there to see my family and take a break from city life. In my free time, I enjoy making jewelry, painting, cooking, taking advantage of the lakes in Minnesota, traveling, Vikings football, volunteering for various organizations, listening to music, karaoke, and walking my yorkie-poodle, Zoey, who keeps me on my toes. In elementary, my mom signed me up for dance classes, and I participated in dance teams throughout college. I am trained in jazz, tap, and ballet dancing.

Prior to joining Guardian Wealth Advisors, I spent five years at a Houston-based independent Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm as a research specialist and a year and a half at a regional bank as an investment performance analyst.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Concordia University and my MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. 

Prior to obtaining my finance degrees, I spent nearly eight years as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy. During that time, I deployed with 2d Battalion, 10th Marines to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, ensuring the proper medical care of U.S. Marines and members of the Jordanian Army and Afghan National Army. 

Outside of the office, I am an avid weightlifter, golfer, skier and a struggling musician. I reside in Apple Valley with my wife, Ellie, and our 3-year-old twins, Liam and Evelyn.
